Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
AI IQ is a Visual Studio Code extension developed and operated by AIFirstPartner (Edwin Ashdown, Brisbane, Australia). This Privacy Policy describes how AI IQ collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. What data AI IQ collects
AI IQ is designed to be privacy-first. The extension runs entirely on your local machine. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or process your data.
- Session data: AI IQ reads Claude Code session files (JSONL) stored locally on your machine at
~/.claude/projects/. This data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly trigger an AI deep analysis. - Extension settings: Your configuration preferences (API provider choice, alert thresholds, licence key) are stored locally within VSCode's settings system.
- Session history (Pro): Historical session scores and metrics are stored locally on your machine in a local database. This data is never transmitted externally.
2. AI deep analysis
When you click "Analyse Now", a summary of your session is sent directly from your machine to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI) using your own API key. This is a direct connection between your machine and the AI provider. AIFirstPartner does not act as an intermediary and does not see, log, or store any of this data.
You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies of your chosen AI provider.
3. Licence validation
If you purchase AI IQ Pro, your licence key is validated through Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider. This involves:
- Your licence key being sent to Lemon Squeezy's API to verify its validity
- Your email address (provided at purchase) being associated with the licence
No session data, code, or usage metrics are sent during licence validation.
4. Payments
All payments for AI IQ Pro are processed by Lemon Squeezy (merchant of record) through Stripe. AIFirstPartner does not directly collect, store, or process credit card numbers or banking details. For payment-related privacy, refer to Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy.
5. Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect telemetry or usage analytics
- We do not track which files or projects you work on
- We do not collect your source code
- We do not use cookies (AI IQ is a VSCode extension, not a website)
- We do not sell or share any data with third parties
6. Third-party services
AI IQ interacts with the following third-party services only when explicitly triggered by you:
- Your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI) — only when you request a deep analysis
- Lemon Squeezy — for licence key validation and payment processing
- VSCode Marketplace — for extension distribution and updates
7. Data retention
Since AI IQ does not transmit your session data to our servers, there is no data to retain or delete on our end. All local data (session history, settings, metrics) can be removed by uninstalling the extension or clearing its local storage.
8. Your rights
Because your data stays local, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete any locally stored data by uninstalling the AI IQ extension. If you have purchased a Pro licence, you can request account deletion by contacting us.
9. Children's privacy
AI IQ is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of AI IQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
